After installation, open AutoCAD or Civil 3D, start the CUILOAD command and select the smart.cuix file in the SmartDraft Manual The SmartDraft manual, in PDF format, is in the SmartDraft's installation folder. Warning Due to read-only issues in Windows Vista and Windows 7, we do not recommend SmartDraft be installed in the drv:\Program Files or drv:\Program Files (x86) folder. Known Installation Issues: 1. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, AutoCAD cannot read slide files from the Program Files (x86) folder. Install in the Program Files folder to correct issue 2. SmartDraft help file is now smart.chm, for network installation, the help file cannot be read from the server. SmartDraft v8.5.17d now copies the help file to the local users applications folder to work around this Windows limitation. 3. AutoCAD 2010 menus. During installation the SmartDraft menu is installed, but the toolbars do not always appear. If you have this issue, copy the smart.mnr file from ww.smartdraft.com download page and copy over the one in the folder. 4. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, the Bkeeper and Template folder are created in under the folder. If you installed SmartDraft in the default location drv:\Program Files\SmartDraft, these folders are read-only and no changes can be made. Workaround: Make a copy of the folders to a read-write folder so edits can be made. 5. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, the RACSETUP.INI in the cannot be changed via the SmartDraft Program Options if installed in the drv:\Program Files\ or drv:\Program Files (x86)\ folder. This file is used to instruct SmartDraft to look for the \Template files other than the default location. To edit the RACSETUP.INI file, copy it to a read-write folder, edit it, and copy the edited version back to the folder. If you have customized SmartDraft to follow your own CAD standards, review these changes to the Customization Template and Style files and make any of the changes necessary to the files in your Customization Templates. Setup 1. Make a backup copy of the original media. 2. You will need 31 MB of free disk space to complete the installation process. The software can be installed on a local or network drive (See License Agreement). 3. Run the SmartDraft 8.exe Enter destination drive and folder 4. To register the software either: Single seat license: At the AutoCAD Command prompt follow the steps below. Command: SmartAbout ENTER From the About dialog box select the Register button. Owner’s Name: Enter the company or owner’s name to be associated with the software Serial Number: Enter the supplied serial number Authorization Code: Enter the supplied authorization code or Site license: Copy the provided license file (smart.lic) to the program’s installation folder. The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\SmartDraft SmartDraft Customization instructions Customization Templates Customization Template files for the program are located in the program’s installation subfolder \Template Users must have read and write rights to this folder and subfolders to edit or customize SmartDraft. The customization folder \Template can be located and/or named as needed on your system. If it is not placed in the default location, the PROJDIR= pointer in the RACSETUP.INI file must be edited to reflect change in the location and/or name.
